From resisting Chinese to thriving — in one year

Struggling since P1 — now reading fluently
Ying Jer had been struggling with reading and writing in Chinese since P1, and we had tried various learning methods and changed a few tuition teachers — until we met Zou Laoshi. With her patience and determination, Ying Jer is now able to read a full passage in Chinese on his own! Zou Laoshi uses creative methods and tailors her teaching to each child’s ability and style. With Kahoot, comics and storytelling, the kids enjoy every lesson. In a fun, encouraging environment they not only improved, they grew to love the language. I’m also grateful to Zou Laoshi for her encouragement to worried parents like me — reminding us never to give up on our children. Thank you, Zou Laoshi!

From 28 marks to a B at PSLE
I appreciate Teacher Irene’s special effort in pushing my child from 28 marks in SA1 to a B grade at PSLE. She put in extra time to drill him on 词句、生字、作文、理解、口试 and practice papers. She is extremely patient and makes sure my child understands what is taught. I have decided to let both my children continue learning Chinese from her in secondary school next year.

From B to A* in six months — PSLE Higher Chinese
我是Lydia的妈妈。她的华文真是一言难尽，因为小三以前没有学过华文，转进本地小学时，华文就成了大难题。虽然一路来也尝试了各种学习，普华没那么差了，但上了五年级开始有了高华，她学起来越发吃力。最后我们找到了Irene老师。Irene老师是一位非常有计划、负责的老师，她会根据不同学生的不同情况、不同程度来制定计划。大家都知道因材施教，可真正做起来并不容易，但Irene老师做到了。经过老师的辅导，Lydia的口试考了满分，作文提高了10分，阅读理解的正确率也提高了，本是B的成绩在短短几个月里提升到A，PSLE终于考了A*！

From 57/100 to 44/45 in just four lessons
My son didn’t do well for his Term 3 test, scoring 57/100. After only four lessons with Teacher Irene, she observed his performance, communicated with me about his strengths and weaknesses, and gave me pointers on how to help him at home. He went on to score 44/45 for his Chinese Paper 2. That result motivated my boy and gave him so many positive thoughts about Chinese.
